Sight

Must be given,
To be seen,
Must be taken and received.

Beauty given,
Never lost,
Is the comfort
In the cost.
Forever

Promise me
No matter what I do,
That you'll love me
Like I love you.
Faith

Leaving the boat,
Out onto the waves
I reach out my hand to take Yours.
You calm and assure me,
Encourage and call me
To stand on faith, preserved.

Cupping my face,
In Your nail-pierced hands,
You call me through my wanderings.
Your gentle love covers me,
Your gentle rod leads me,
And someday, You'll welcome me Home.

Humanity

I searched too much,
And then not enough
I find myself standing still.
The world's still spinning,
My heart's still beating,
And yet there's so much left to fill.

I reach out my hands
To touch what's before me,
But I found it had faded away;
Groping in the darkness,
I fight back the madness,
Try to keep terror at bay.

I feel myself falling,
Hear my own voice calling,
Praying for someone to hear;
-Yet, here I sit, silent,
Knowing my soul's rent,
But no one here senses my fear.

These people around us,
Walk, talk, eat, laugh,
Yet I sense all the forced gaiety;
The battle inside them,
Through them it does hem,
-Only their eyes betray them to me.

Tomorrow

A smile cracked her face
As she listened to the song,
Written oh, so long ago,
Through mazes lost in time.

"Goodbye!" She'd cried,
Though it hadn't seemed so final.
She thought the kiss that held her now
Would hold her yet tomorrow.

A tear dripped from her eye
As she saw before her rise
A phantom, dead so long ago,
Through mazes lost in time

"Goodbye!" She'd cried,
Though it hadn't seemed so final.
She thought the kiss that held her now
Would hold her yet tomorrow.

When mist hung ore'
And waves clapped their hands
To welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
A man now lost in time.

"Goodbye!" She'd cried,
Though it hadn't seemed so final.
She thought the kiss that held her now
Would hold her yet tomorrow.

A rose fell from her hand,
Her grip, at last, had faded.
Final goodbyes must be said
To men, now lost in time.

"Goodbye!" She'd cried,
Though it hadn't seemed so final.
She thought the kiss that held her now
Would hold her yet tomorrow.

"Hold tight! Hold tight!"
She warned each mother near,
"Sayin' 'Goodbye' don't seem too hard,
Until your Love ain't here!"

"Goodbye!" She'd cried,
Though it hadn't seemed so final.
She thought the kiss that held her now
Would hold her yet tomorrow.

A lesson learned, though hard it was,
Hold tight while they are near,
A little thing, so long ago
But, in the labyrinth of time,
Who knows what fills tomorrow?
Down Here

Chasin' these dreams cause they're all I've got
Mercy ain't comin in a bright red box.
Hope ain't easy, love ain't free
Life is harder then we all think.

Freedom takes care to keep in store,
An' blood is required to keep it there.
The love we want, ain't the love we've got
Just too blind to really care.

Searchin' for something we don't understand
Makes us all hungry for another land.
Somethin' better, holier even
Then what we've only ever got.

Nothin's easy to hold on to down here
Everything slips away too fast.
Time an' love don't yet last forever
Till forever's all that's left.

I don't pretend to think I know
Anything about God and man.
But all I know, that's all I have left
Is God, dreams, and Heaven.
